Low Carb Diets Love Fitness

One thing you should have learned about life is that you usually have to work for the things that are worth having. Good relationships take work, success in your career takes work and staying healthy really does take work. But staying healthy does not have to be a chore! When it comes to living the low carb lifestyle you would like to use the tastiest foods and the physical activities that combine fitness and fun to help you stay healthy.
Benefits of a Low Carb Diet and Exercise
First, let's consider the benefits of adding more activity for physical fitness to your diet:
• Activity helps to control weight.
• Activity reduces your risk for diabetes as well as cancer and even Alzheimer's.
• Activity decreases stress and strengthens your body and mind.
• Activity slows the effects of aging.
All of these benefits far outweigh the negatives. In fact the only negative to physical fitness is boredom might set in and finding the time can be a real challenge. You can do the minimum recommended exercise of just 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week, or kick it up a notch and maximize the benefits and exercise at least 30 minutes a day 5-6 times a week. It's up to you and even the smallest amount of exercise will improve your health and fitness as well as your weight loss results while on a diet.
Stay Fit and Have Fun on Your Low Carb Diet

• Walking can be incorporated into your daily life: walk to work, get off the bus or subway a few stops earlier, walk the kids to school on pleasant days or walk up the stairs at the office.
• Cycling offers the same potential to fit in with daily life from cycling to work to taking a turn with the kids around the neighbourhood in beautiful weather.
• Whether you have your own pool, hit the beach or visit a local rec centre, swimming offers low impact exercise with plenty of aerobics to improve physical fitness.
• Choose a sport you will enjoy such as tennis, badminton, golf, or running. Take lessons or join a club with a friend.

Walking For Fitness - Tips For Walking While On Vacation

Walking is such a great form of exercise. It will help to keep you healthy and fit for life. However, some people seem to forget about their walking program for one reason or another when they go on vacation. Here are some tips to help you keep walking while you are on vacation.
Actually, walking on vacation is great. You can explore areas that you may not go to if you were not walking. I've found great restaurants that are off the beaten path that I would not have found if I was not out exercising. It will also help you to feel not as guilty with the extra eating that usually happens during a vacation.
You should talk with your family and let them know that you are keeping up with your walking while you are on vacation. They will appreciate the fact that you are keeping up with your program and they may even want to join you. Letting them know in the beginning that you are going to still exercise will help to not have problems later.
If you are on a trip (whether for business or pleasure) you may find that you are in an area that you are unsure of. Ask the desk at your hotel for safe walking paths. You are not the only one that has asked them that - and they are usually prepared with a map. They will also tell you of areas to stay away from. If you are still feeling uneasy - hit the treadmill in the hotel's fitness center to get your walking done.
Make sure that you walk at the same time each day. If you are on a business trip - the best thing is to get up early and get it done before the first meeting. This way you will not worry about getting it done later - especially when you may be joining your colleagues later in the evening. If you are on vacation, early morning may also be better. I always run first thing so that I can spend the rest of the day with my hubby and know that my exercise is done.
Getting your walking done while you are out of town doesn't have to be a challenge. It may take some planning on your part - but it can be done. And, it will be much better to keep up with your walking program so that you don't have to work back into it when you get back home.
If you are currently new to walking - I invite you to download this free report at Begin A Walking Program for more information on walking and how to get started.

At Home Fitness

There's no real substitute for a well equipped gym or fitness center when it comes to getting a good workout. However, there are times when going somewhere to work out for an hour is simply too inconvenient. The option is to skip your workout, or adopt a fitness at home routine for those days when time doesn't permit you to take a break. Contrary to popular myth, maintaining your personal fitness at home is a lot easier than most people think.
The first hurdle most people face when wanting to maintain a fitness routine at home is staying focused and maintaining discipline. It's easy to concentrate on your workout when you're at the gym or fitness center. You're there to work out, the equipment is there, there are no distractions, and you may even have a trainer who's task it is to see that you stay focused.
Fitness at home is a whole other story. First, you need to be disciplined enough to set aside time to work out, and then actually do it. Distractions are another problem when trying to maintain a fitness routine while at home. It's hard to ignore a ringing telephone, crying child or the dog scratching at the back door and concentrate on you workout.
The next hurdle to overcome is a lack of equipment. Few people are fortunate enough to have a fully equipped home gym, so home fitness efforts have to be maintained using what is at hand and tailoring exercises to suit what's available.
For example, most homes have at least one set of stairs, and even if they comprise only a couple of steps that's enough to do stair climbs. Push-ups and stomach crunches can be done anywhere, as can an aerobics workout. If the weather is not suitable for a run, running on the spot inside is as good a cardio workout. Yoga is another exercise that can be done while watching television. A set of dumbbells and a chair are all you need to work your biceps and triceps. Squats work the leg muscles, and the list goes on.
A well thought out exercise plan and a few pieces of equipment could approach the results attainable at a gym. However, fitness at home should be mixes with workouts at a fully equipped fitness center. The wide array of equipment, as well as the environment itself, tend to make for a better overall workout. Fitness at home should be consider as more of a physical maintenance program for what gym visits aren't possible, rather than a substitute for proper gym workout.

For Fitness Try These 10 Powerful Fitness Tips

Most people think that if fitness is your goal, you must go to the gym. This is not necessarily the case. It is not always about how you look; it is not always about how you eat, for, having a healthy and fit body has many components.
Working out in the gym has many advantages for while there, your activities will be monitored, controlled and measured.
1. If you do work-outs in the gym, keep your weight work-outs to under one-hour sessions. Research has shown that after 60 minutes of work, your body begins to produce more of the stress hormone cortisol which can have muscle-wasting effects.
2. Lift light weights fast to build the strength of your muscles. Use dumbbells, barbells and machines in that specific order in your workouts. The smaller weight that you use (dumbbell) will cause muscles to suffer fatigue before your larger muscles when, at which stage, your progress to machines will require much less work and involvement from you as you grow more and more tired.
3. Sit-ups are very important. They increase your range of motion which make your abdominal muscles work harder and longer. You must at all cost avoid sit-ups with anchored feet for doing it this way can hurt your lower back.
4. When shopping for workout shoes, do so late in the day. Research has shown that at that time of the day, your feet are at their largest. You must make certain that there is at least some space in front of your longest toe and that you can easily wiggle that toe.
5. If during your workouts you do hurt your right arm, do not stop exercising your left arm. It has been shown that people who train only one arm for two weeks manage to increase the strengths in their non- exercising arm by up to 10%. The reasoning here is that exercising one arm stimulates the muscle and nerve fibres in the opposite arm.
6. This tip has strong impact on the way you accept the task that you are working on. When you're counting repetitions, do it backwards. By doing so, you will set-up positive motivations in your head where you would begin to think about how many you have left to do instead of how many you have done. By doing it this way, you will certainly want to complete each cycle.
7. Of course accidents do happen. During any period of work-outs when you might feel pain, there is one thing you must never do. Never take pain medication after your workout, for painkillers like Ibuprofen, Tylenol and other over-the-counter medications were no more effective than a placebo in relieving post- exercise muscle soreness. More importantly, research showed that such drugs may suppress muscle growth when taken after a workout.
8. Don't exercise when you're ill. By so doing you will be conserving and directing your body's healing resources towards health and healing and not towards building muscles and endurance.
9. If you had a hard workout, you can recover much faster from it by lightly exercising the same muscles the following day. Use a light weight which will deliver more blood and nutrients into your muscles causing them to repair faster.
10. If you've had a muscle injury, begin exercising again as soon as you possibly can. Try a few minutes of low intensity activities to test yourself and then go where your body takes you. If there is accompanying pain, stop immediately. You can then put an ice-pack on the area and try the activity the following day.
Follow this mantra: focus on small steps daily not on the completed task. Doing it any other way is a recipe for definite failure. If you treat every day as a new opportunity to feel and look your best, you will certainly end up being a winner. So, if you do want to stay healthy and have the body you want and do so safely, being fit and observing the fitness rules are your best bet.

Home Fitness Training: Who Benefits From This?

There are many ways a person could lose weight and get fit. They could play sports on a regular basis, go to the gym, or settle down with a good home fitness training routine. In recent years, home workout programs have become more and more popular as shown by the sheer amount of exercise programs and instructional video designed to target those who want to get fit without having to pay for a gym membership. While there are many benefits to working out at home, it is not for everyone. Some people benefit from this type of exercise routine more than others. Here are some examples of people who would benefit the most from working out at home instead of at the gym.
• People who live far from the gym or fitness center - Some people are lucky enough to be able to find a gym close to where they live. Unfortunately for many, they would need to make a 30-60 minute commute just to get to the nearest fitness center. That's a lot of wasted time, especially for people who want to squeeze in a good workout despite their very busy schedules. If going to the gym to work out is too much of a hassle, then they would be better off doing their exercise routines at home.
• Stay-at-home moms and dads - Staying at home to take care of the kids isn't as easy as many people think. Many times, it's actually a workout in itself. Of course, nothing beats a real home fitness training routine to keep one's energy up throughout the day. Parents who stay at home sneak in a good work out while their children are taking their afternoon nap. This way, they can get the exercise they need without having to leave their kids in the care of a babysitter.
• People who are on a tight budget - In this economy, a gym membership is a luxury many people can't afford. After comparing the cost of the monthly dues one has to pay for exercise classes at the fitness center with the price of a good instructional exercise DVD and a few basic workout equipment, the choice becomes pretty obvious. There are also a lot of free exercise tips and instructional material available online for those who don't want to spend a dime on a good workout plan.
• People who are uncomfortable working out in public - For many people who want to exercise to lose weight, showing off flabs instead of abs at the gym is a frightening thought. Working out at home helps give them the privacy they need to do their exercises and shed off that extra weight.
• People who can afford an in-home personal trainer - Having one-on-one workout sessions with a personal trainer can really do wonders for one's health and physique. Not everyone can afford this, but for those who can, there's just no other way to do it.
The best way to decide whether a home fitness training regimen is the right way to go is to try it out. If it doesn't work, there are plenty of other options to choose from.
